Jesse Helms will likely be lauded as a statesman, a grandfather of the house, having held senior positions in the US senate for the Republicans for much of his time there. I'm sure he'll also get a State funeral as well.
It would be hypocritical of me to slander this man now he's dead so I won't. But read his wiki and determine for yourself if it was a life well led or an ideology served worthy of being served.
As for me, thank god the US seems to be heading in a better direction than his ilk would have it.

I got annoyed by right wing fuckholes laughing about Gough being sick so I should gloat about some hard right arsehole going tits up.
Um, the difference being that Gough Whitlam actually did a lot for gender and racial equality during his time as PM, whatever other faults he may have had. Jesse Helms was a racist scumbag who did his best to make the lives of african americans and gay people miserable, and I'm glad he's dead. The only thing that bugs me is the eulogising of the bastard by the media. Pity he didn't die a lot sooner.
