Why repeat?

Why do you have to repeat a shampoo treatment? Why isn't one application enough? This smacks to me of a conspiracy by shampoo makers to increase the use of their product.

(HM was last seen being bundled into a really nice smelling hot pink stretch limo)

OR, they think that the dirt in your hair isn't caused by environmental factors or body chemistry, it is your brain slowly seeping out through your skull so you won't a) won't wash your hair properly the first time or, b) you're stupid enough to actually fall for repeatedly following their self-serving instructions.

I have very thick hair, and have found that two, smaller applications of shampoo works better than one gargantuan one.

But there'd be no reason for someone with normal hair to "lather, rinse, repeat"
