It begins...

Beazo's back with avengence. I love who ever is doing his lines.

From today's SMH. See here

And, to the delight of delegates, Mr Beazley launched personal attacks on several ministers, describing Treasurer Peter Costello as "Australia's most arrogant bridesmaid" and Industrial Relations Minister Kevin Andrews as a "Christmas Scrooge only tighter".

Education Minister Brendan Nelson was an "animated racoon on nasty pills", Health Minister Tony Abbott a "snake oil salesman without the credibility" and Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone was lampooned, with Mr Beazley saying she ran her department "like Colonel Klink ran Stalag 13".

  1. Oh no... sorry Mikey, but I cringed when I heard him on the news;this is the Beazley that's supposed to be an alternative leader for our country? Whose idea of talking tough involves no facts, no accounts of the wronging of ordinary Australians by the Howard Government? The biggest insult he could think of for Brendan Nelson was to call him an "animated raccoon on nasty pills", and Peter Costello "Australia's most arrogant bridesmaid". When the newsreader said Beazley "came out swinging" I didn't expect something this lame, even from him. I thought he might finally have made a strong attack on Howard's policies. I honestly didn't think my opinion of him could go any lower...

He's still better than Howard, I guess, but gee...

  2. Well, you see, he does actually report on all the policy stuff. But who actually reports that? No one.

There's a reason the average pollie gets 7 seconds air time when they're not the PM. And that's because News Directors in Commerical TV declare it thus.

So yeah. Go to the ALP site, read Beazo's speeches. His response on Kyoto and other policies is simply awesome. But, like I said, all you get is that cause that's all news gives us. Even the ABC is slack at times.

I loved the racoon comment. It suits Nelson perfectly.

  3. I do enjoy Beazley's abilities to push buttons in political theatre.

I like this speech: "I fear we are witnessing another train wreck in the making with the PR-driven rush by the Government to seal a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the US."

... said Mr Beazley whilst taking a breather from rolling a boulder onto the track.

Sarah - perhaps that could be his theme for the 2007 election: "Beazley: Still better than Howard(TM)"

  4. You're right about the media reporting only sound-bytes of what politicians other than the PM have to say, but I still reckon those insults were lame!

"Still better than Howard"... may be a good pitch to get the preferences of Green voters :P

  5. You could show Howard sitting comfortably in a forest destroying big yellow machine, sipping tea. And Beazo struggling to get in one.

'Who do you think would be better at this? Vote ALP'.
